Job Description Overview:

Westmark Construction is looking for a talented Working Superintendent for commercial projects. The Superintendent is responsible for overall on-site, day to day, supervision, project administration and coordination of field related activities and sub-contractors, as well as performing work as necessary on the project including general carpentry. Candidates should have a minimum of 5+ years of experience as a superintendent with general carpentry experience on commercial projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general carpentry work as necessary on the project including concrete, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, etc.
  • Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, suppliers and other contractors.
  • Supervise craft employees and/or other contracted subcontractors as required by the contract.
  • Provide technical assistance, i.e. interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment etc, as required.
  • Assist the Project Management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards and more.
  • Ensure all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, document all safety violations, notify Project Management and recommend/implement corrective actions as required.
  • Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of material/equipment and contractual performance of the project.
  • Provide project documentation including daily reporting, pictures and documentation of progress.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years construction management and or craft supervision experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of constructions methods.
  • Competent understanding of construction safety.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and driving record screen.
  • General Carpentry experience on commercial projects.

Qualifications:

  • Computer skills to include email, scheduling, daily inspections and safety reporting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills.

Service Technician

  • Responds to service calls in fully equipped service vehicle (included in rate)
  • Service Vehicle equipped w/portable power, ladders, power tools and supplies
  • Carries electronics for document access and control
  • Responds to assess problems and make repair recommendations
  • Can self-perform most work and/or subcontract as needed
  • Can pick-up/deliver materials, tools and supplies as needed in service vehicle

General Laborer

  • Assists Service Technicians to perform work if needed
  • Performs work under the direction of Site Superintendent or Service Tech.
  • Drive support vehicles such as hook-lift (dumpster) trucks, flatbeds, pick-ups
  • Can be dispatched in company vehicles for general labor work only
  • If extended labor is necessary, they will drive personal vehicles to site
  • If sent to site in company vehicle, the company vehicle will be charged
